Blue Origin Proposes Space-Based AI Data Centers with Project Sunrise

Blue Origin has filed with the Federal Communications Commission to deploy Project Sunrise, a constellation of more than 51,600 satellites designed to host AI data centers in orbit. The solar-powered satellites would operate at altitudes between 500-1,800 km, providing computing infrastructure for US AI companies. The project aims to compete directly with SpaceX's similar initiatives in orbital computing. Blue Origin argues that space-based data centers offer advantages in power availability, cooling efficiency, and security, though the proposal faces significant regulatory and technical hurdles.
